Wrexham One World Community Choir is inviting new singers to join them for the start of the new term on Tuesday 12th September at local creative centre, Un Deg Un.
The choir has been meeting weekly as Wrexham Community Choir since it formed in 2012 and is open to everyone, regardless of age, experience or singing ability. There are no auditions, no need to read music – simply turn up and sing.
Musical Director, Carol Donaldson said “We are looking forward to welcoming new members to come and sing with us at our exciting new venue, Un Deg Un. Most people are convinced they can’t sing but really everyone has a voice, they’re just too shy to use it!’.
Carol continues “Singing together builds confidence in your voice and you in a fun and safe way by singing in a large group. We create a fabulous group sounds , no solos and no reading music. We learn all new songs by ear. We also have a lovely time, singing songs from around the globe, from Africa to Eastern Europe to traditional Welsh melodies. We sing to uplift and to soothe the soul . In our repertoire , we sing many songs of peace and in the tradition of the Community Choir movement, have a strong inclusive and humanitarian ethos .”
Carol Donaldson, is an accomplished choir leader, Musical Director and composer for music, theatre, television and radio. Her choir at Christie Hospital, the ‘Rhythm of Life” choir was featured recently on Gareth Malone’s BBC series The Choir and on BBC Breakfast. Carol is also looking forward to leading a mass choir sing in Wrexham on 30th September when over 30 choirs will be singing together at the second Singing Street Festival in the town.
Wrexham One World Community Choir meets every Tuesdays from September 12th during term time from 7.30pm – 9.30pm in Un Deg Un, Regent Street, Wrexham (next door to Waterstones).
