Wrexham Community Choir was founded with a small grant in 2012 which provided 6 months funding to launch and develop the choir. As the choir became so popular, with over 100 members, it was registered as a Community Interest Company in March 2014. to ensure its sustainability and future.
A CIC, or Community Interest Company is a type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. As we do not receive any funding we charge a small weekly subscription for choir sessions and run singing workshops and team building initiatives on a commercial basis to ensure the choir’s sustainability and enable us to develop our activities and to participate in some community events for free or at a subsidised rate.
Our purpose is to bring arts activities to communities in order to promote social inclusion and we do this in the following ways::
facilitating and developing a community choir which is fully inclusive and open to all to people living in Wrexham and beyond.
Delivering innovative community arts projects, events, festivals and performances which are open to all.
Collaborating with musicians, artists, local arts and organisations to create paid work opportunities for artists, musicians and creative practitioner’s and provide placements and volunteer opportunities to enhance future work prospects.
